About Marine Terrace

A Prime Intracoastal Location

Picture
Marine Terrace occupies a prime site directly fronting onto the intracoastal waterway on Pompano Beach's barrier island. The building is designed and situated to take full advantage of the wide canal on which it faces. Each apartment features an expansive florida room, offering breathtaking intracoastal views and beautiful sunsets. The daily "boat parade" features all types of watercraft, from small fishing boats to magnificent yachts, cruising by on sparkling blue water. Apartments on higher floors catch glimpses of the Atlantic Ocean, only a few blocks away.

A Committed Community of Residents

Picture
Marine Terrace is home to both year-round and seasonal residents, mostly retired or empty nesters. It is a group that values community; residents are attentive, keeping an eye on their neighbors and their property. With only 39 apartments, most people are acquainted with one another and some socialize regularly by the pool. Residents help out in a variety of ways to keep Marine Terrace attractive, well-maintained and secure — a delightful place to call home any time of the year. Marine Terrace is ideally suited to those looking for a quiet, respectful community where they can enjoy the South Florida climate in a scenic, serene and comfortable environment.

An Important History

Picture
The construction of Marine Terrace began in 1956 and the building was completed for occupancy in 1957. At five stories, Marine Terrace was the tallest and largest building in Pompano Beach. With its elegant, mid-century style, Art Deco details and distinctive, circular stairways, Marine Terrace has aged gracefully and is one of the beach's most architecturally significant buildings.

Over the years, a committed co-op board and association has ensured that the building, amenities and property are all maintained and upgraded, so that life at Marine Terrace is as enjoyable as when it was first built.

Exciting Developments on the Beach

Picture
The beachfront is experiencing an exciting re-development with the  Pompano Beach Fishing Village. It started with a new boardwalk and now includes a recently completed pier and parking garage, new restaurants, with more shops and more restaurants currently underway. Best of all, this exciting area is just a short walk from Marine Terrace.

The Pompano Beach Fishing Village project will bring significant benefits to our neighborhood, enhancing our lifestyle and increasing property values. LEARN MORE

The History of Pompano Beach

Picture
Pompano Beach celebrated the 100th anniversary of its incorporation on July 3, 2008. It is the second oldest city in Broward County, and the fifth oldest in all of South Florida. Only Key West, West Palm Beach, Miami and Dania Beach became municipalities earlier than Pompano (the “Beach” came later).

Many early residents were farmers, coming south to escape the effects of the mid-decade freezes. Although the local community at first was located around what was then known as Lettuce Lake (now Lake Santa Barbara), the coming of the railroad led to development farther west.
A small commercial district began to grow near the Florida East Coast Railway depot. In 1900, M. Z. Cavandish opened a general store at N.E. First Street and Flagler Avenue. In 1906 Pompano became the southernmost settlement in newly-created Palm Beach County. That year, the Hillsboro Lighthouse was completed on the beach.
